MiM 2020 Update

A Letter from Artistic Director, Rebecca Jackson

Date: March 31, 2020

I write to you from Cupertino, CA where I have been sheltered-in for 17 days with my sister, Elizabeth. With you and the entire world, we are watching the news closely and processing many emotions during a surreal global pause. The actions of other arts organizations taking steps to care for their performing artists have inspired MiM to follow suit.

It is with much humility, gratitude, and joy that I present our plan to pivot which begins with the news that MiM 2020 musicians will return to perform live during a future season. What about this May? I believe our plan provides an opportunity to fulfill our mission of building community in a brand new way. Our gift to you the entire month of May, MiM will release a 2-part series on YouTube, with daily videos featuring MiM 2020 musicians. We will culminate on Memorial Day weekend with a livestream broadcast of archived MiM performances.

With your support and help, we can reach a larger number of youth and friends, across Santa Cruz county and around the world! Click HERE to go to MiM’s YouTube channel.

MiM will pay our scheduled performers the normal festival fee for their digital contributions in place of the live performances. Without the live concerts and ticket revenue to get us to our goal, we thank everyone for considering a donation. If we surpass our goal, the funds will be rolled over to bring our musicians back in 2021, surely to be a historic gathering.
