In the spirit of chamber music building community, Harmony celebrates collaboration with local youth. The program will feature students from El Sistema Santa Cruz, piano students from the studio of Kate Alm, violin students from the studios of Terre Lee & Cynthia Baehr, and poetry by students from Hartmann School, MiM festival musicians, and MiM’s 2020 community relations director, Pittsburgh-based Venezuelan violinist, Juan Jaramillo. The grand finale will be the world premiere arrangement by Dan Baker and Joanne Tanner of United in Song by Tom Brand.
The title, Harmony, comes from a hope of harmony for humanity, musical harmony between communities, and also pays tribute to MiM’s artistic director, Rebecca Jackson’s Korean grandmother. Grandma in Korean is Hal-mon-nee, aka Harmony. She was a passionate and devoted woman who continues to inspire Rebecca. Let’s celebrate all the Harmony’s in our lives!
